Unlike some body cleansers containing harsh surfactants that rinse the skin’s valuable lipids down the drain with the dirt, the newly reformulated Dove Body Wash uses a gentle surfactant system made up of a proprietary blend of Sodium Lauroyl Isethionate (SLI), Betaine, and Sodium Methyl Lauroyl Taurate (SMLT), that effectively cleans skin while helping to improve moisture-levels by depositing moisture-boosting ingredients such as Stearic Acid on the skin. The only way your skin should feel after a shower is uh-may-zing!

Well hydrated skin that’s able to hang on to its own moisture is happier skin. With the inclusion of short chain fatty acids plus 12-HSA, Dove Body Wash helps to support the skin’s ability to self-moisturize by feeding its own natural process to produce new skin moisturizers and ceramides.

But how does this work? The skin’s stratum corneum (the outermost layer of the epidermis) is tasked with keeping anything harmful from the environment out and keep vital moisture in. It’s made up of a network of proteins and lipids which help the skin to maintain good moisture levels and mount a decent defense against the environment. Supporting this function, short chain fatty acids, like stearic acid and palmitic acid, complemented with 12-HSA, help by boosting the skin’s self-renewal and self moisturization process. Long-chain fatty acids and ceramides are not so easily rinsed off.

This means that you can start the moisturization process before you have even stepped foot from the shower and feel like you’re wearing a superhero suit of moisture!
